Does Filitra Cause An Increase In Heartbeat?

Filitra, which contains Vardenafil (a PDE5 inhibitor), is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) by improving blood flow to the penis. Like other PDE5 inhibitors, Vardenafil works by relaxing blood vessels and increasing blood flow. However, one potential side effect of Filitra is that it can cause changes in heart rate, including an increase in heartbeat.

Why Does Filitra Affect Heart Rate?

Vasodilation: Vardenafil causes blood vessels to relax and widen (vasodilation), which can lower blood pressure. As a result, the heart may compensate for the drop in blood pressure by increasing its rate to maintain blood flow and oxygen delivery to vital organs.

Increased Heart Rate: In some people, this compensatory mechanism can lead to an increase in heart rate (tachycardia). The effect is typically mild, but for people with certain heart conditions, it could be more noticeable or problematic.

Other Potential Heart-Related Side Effects:

Palpitations: Some individuals may experience palpitations, which are feelings of a fast or irregular heartbeat.

Low Blood Pressure: In combination with other blood pressure-lowering medications, Filitra may cause excessive hypotension (low blood pressure), which could further stress the heart.

What to Do:

If you experience an increased heartbeat, chest pain, or dizziness while taking Filitra, you should contact a healthcare provider immediately. People with heart conditions or high blood pressure should consult their doctor before using Filitra.

While heart rate changes are possible, they are usually temporary and mild. However, monitoring your health and discussing any concerns with your doctor is essential.
