I’ve been exploring the idea of turning my book into an audiobook, and self-publishing seems like a great option. However, I know there are both advantages and challenges to this route, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
From what I’ve researched, self-publishing gives authors complete creative control, higher royalties, and the flexibility to choose narrators, platforms, and pricing. Plus, with platforms like ACX, Findaway Voices, and others, it’s easier than ever to reach a global audience. But on the flip side, it also comes with upfront costs, the challenge of marketing, and the responsibility of handling production quality.
Would working with an audiobook publishing company make the process smoother, or is self-publishing the better way to go? Have any of you self-published an audiobook before? What was your experience like? Any tips or lessons learned?
