Is Bioglandin Injection Safe With Anti-Inflammatory Drugs?

Bioglandin injection is generally a brand of alprostadil (prostaglandin E1). If you mean alprostadil injection used for erectile dysfunction, available interaction information indicates that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) generally do not have a clinically significant interaction with alprostadil. Clinical information also reports that concomitant NSAID use did not appear to affect alprostadil's safety or effectiveness.

Common NSAIDs include ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen and aspirin. However, alprostadil can inhibit platelet aggregation, so there may be an increased bleeding concern in people who already have bleeding problems or who take medicines that affect blood clotting.

The more important safety issue with injectable alprostadil is low blood pressure, dizziness, penile pain, bleeding at the Bioglandin injection site and prolonged erection (priapism). An erection lasting more than 4 hours requires urgent medical treatment to prevent permanent damage.

Therefore, taking an anti-inflammatory medicine with Bioglandin may be acceptable in many people, but the exact combination matters. If you tell me the name and dose of your anti-inflammatory drug (for example, diclofenac 50 mg, ibuprofen 400 mg, or naproxen 500 mg), I can check that specific combination.
