Fildena, if it contains sildenafil, should preferably not be taken with grapefruit juice. This precaution applies whether grapefruit juice is consumed shortly before taking the medicine or around the same time. Healthcare guidance recommends avoiding grapefruit and grapefruit juice while using sildenafil because the interaction may increase the likelihood of side effects.

Grapefruit contains compounds that can inhibit CYP3A4, an enzyme involved in breaking down Fildena in the intestine. As a result, more sildenafil may enter the bloodstream, potentially increasing its effects and making side effects more likely. A clinical study found that grapefruit juice increased sildenafil exposure by approximately 23%.

Possible side effects of higher sildenafil exposure include headache, flushing, dizziness, indigestion, nasal congestion, and temporary vision changes.

Because the extent of the grapefruit interaction can vary between individuals, avoiding grapefruit is the simplest precaution. If you regularly drink grapefruit juice, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it is safe with your particular medicine and dose.

Also, never increase your sildenafil dose to compensate for reduced effectiveness, and do not take more than the prescribed amount. If you experience severe dizziness, fainting, chest pain, sudden vision or hearing changes, or an erection lasting longer than four hours, seek urgent medical attention.
